Acupuncture for headache & migraine
Headaches can make life hard and cause irritability and anger. You may even experience vision and sound sensitivity which can negatively impact your sleep.
Here is an explanation on the “tension headache”:
When you use a computer or cellphone for a while, these muscle groups get tight and in turn, pinch the nerves of C1, C2, C3, all of which help control the head and neck. You can then experience a headache on the front, side and back of the head, depending on which nerve gets pinched. The heart pumps blood with force through the artery, but when the blood comes back from the head, it comes back by muscles squeezing, not the heart pumping. If the muscle around the neck is tight, the blood flow will be restricted.
To better visualize it, imagine a water hose. When it gets folded, what happens? It accumulates a large amount of pressure from the first half of the hose connected to the faucet. Since the vein is a one-way track towards the heart, you will experience pressure on the head. Acupuncture can relieve the pressure by alleviating muscle tension around the neck muscle(s). We strive to give patients the best and more efficient care so that they can “live life with less pain”.
